Varanasi is famous for its food, sweets, pan, Benarsi Sarees, streets and ghats. There are around 84 Ghats in Varanasi, on the bank of river Ganga. All these 84 Ghats depicts 84 yoni as it is said in Bhagvat Gita.
I can only say that neither you nor anyone can describe Kashi. The one can only feel this place & the feeling is so strong that you will forget the world & you will start searching of yourself.
So, after you reach the Varanasi Station, you will come out & see Paan Ki Gumti. You will go there and ask the person chewing Paan... Ki Bhaiya mujhe YAHAN (jo bhi jagah apko jana ho) Jana hai. Fir wo aapko sab kuch batayega. Pr aapko ek akshar bhi samajh mein nhi ayega...kyuki usne paan muh mein rakha hai. Ab aap uske Translator se baat kareinge Matalab Ki Paanwale Bhaiya se. Aur wo apko batayega ki uss admi ne aapse kya kaha... Aapko bhi ander se feeling ayegi ki aap Indian Ambassador ho jo dusere desh gya hua hai apne translator ko le ke. Now you will go to Auto-Rickshaw wala bhaiya. Aur jaisa ki hr jagah yahi hota hai, ki wo aapko Tourist samjhega aur 5 ka 50 batayega. To aapko uske paas jana hai aur ye madhur sentence kehna hai.
Kaa be ek dum hawai-jahaje bna diye ho ka....

1. Kashi Vishwanath Temple
The jyotirlinga is an ancient axis mundi symbol representing the supreme formless (nirguna) reality at the core of creation, out of which the form (saguna) of Shiva appears. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in Vishwanath Gali of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh in India. The temple stands on the western bank of the holy river Ganga, and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the holiest of Shiva temples. The main deity is known by the names Shri Vishwanath and Vishweshwara literally meaning Lord of the Universe. Varanasi was called Kashi ("shining") in ancient times, and hence the temple is popularly called Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
2. New Kashi Vishwanath Temple (B.H.U)
3. Durga Temple, Durgakund
In adhyaya (chapter) 23 of the Devi-Bhagavata Purana, this temple's origin is explained. As per the text, Kashi Naresh (king of Varanasi) called for a Swayamvar for his daughter Sashikala's marriage. The King later learnt that the princess was in love with vanvasi prince Sudarshan. So Kashi Naresh got his daughter secretly married to the prince. When the other Kings (who were invited for Swayamvar) got to know about the marriage, they got angry and went on war with Kashi Naresh. Sudarshan then offered prayers to Durga, who came on a lion and fought the war for Kashi Naresh and Sudarshan. After the war, Kashi Naresh pleaded to Durga to protect Varanasi and with that belief, this temple was constructed. (yahna pe Maa Durga ke chauthe swaroop Maa Kushmanda Devi ki murti sthapit hai)
4. Sankat Mochan Temple
It is believed that the temple has been built on the very spot where Tulsidas had a vision of Hanuman. Sankat Mochan Temple was founded by Tulsidas who was the author of the Ramacharitamanasa, which is the greatest version of lord Ram story written in Avadhi.
5. Dashaswamedh Ghat
6. Assi Ghat
7. Ramnagar Fort
8. Dhamek Stupa
The Dhamek Stupa is said to mark the spot (Rishipattana which can be translated as "where the Rishi arrived") where the Buddha gave the first sermon to his first five disciples, led by Kaundinya, after attaining enlightenment, "revealing his Eightfold Path leading to nirvana".This event marked the formation of the sangha. In several of the ancient sources the site of the first sermon is mentioned to have been at a ?Mriga-dayaa-vanam? or a sanctuary for animals. ( In Sanskrit mriga is used in the sense of game animals, deer being the most common). The last royal endowment at the site is dated to about 12th c. CE, after which the location of the Mrigadayavanam seems to have been lost even to the devout. The stupa was enlarged on six occasions but the upper part is still unfinished. While visiting Sarnath in 640 CE, Xuanzang recorded that the colony had over 1,500 priests and the main stupa was nearly 300 feet (91 m) high.
In its current shape, the stupa is a solid cylinder of bricks and stone reaching a height of 43.6 meters and having a diameter of 28 meters. It is the most massive structure in Sarnath. The basement seems to have survived from Ashoka's structure: the stone facing is chiseled and displays delicate floral carvings of Gupta origin. The wall is covered with exquisitely carved figures of humans and birds, as well as inscriptions in the Brahmi script.
9. Chaukhandi Stupa
